An event for Brent’s Mission Dine Club has raised £500 for its members.
Harrow’s mayor, Cllr Nana Asante, hosted the fundraiser for MDC at her parlour in Harrow Civic Centre.
The founder of the luncheon club, Dame Betty Safu-Adjaye, attended the event alongside Brent MDC trustees and supporters including Cllr James Allie and Len and Catherine Miller-Baldwin of Wembley-based The Club for elders.
During the event, Wembley Park Lane Methodist Church choirmaster Leandro Kelly and Harrow choir leader David Phellops treated guests to a selection of songs.
MDC trustee Dorothy Akwaboah cooked the food for the guests.
“It is the little things that people do that is what makes a difference,” said Cllr Asante.
“Dame Betty’s care for the elderly, and her infectious good humour makes a real difference in our communities - this is why I was glad to lend my support to this fundraiser.”
Dame Betty said she would spend the money raised on a trip for her clients.
