Students from nine secondary schools in Brent have been given a prestigious award for their education achievements.
The Jack Petchey Foundation acknowledged 73 young people at a special ceremony held on Tuesday.
The foundation recognises the positive contributions young people aged from 11 to 25 make to society.
It also supports them in achieving their potential.
Recipients include Mark Edmonds, a 17-year-old student at Newman Catholic College in Harlesden Road, Harlesden.
The BTEC business student has a part time job working with a construction company in Brent where he has learned carpentry skills. Mark is helping his school by using his new found skills to fix locks in the building and he is making the sixth form area a safe and welcoming place to study in.
Ashish Joshi, 16, has established an astronomy club at Capital City Academy in Doyle Gardens, Willesden, where is studying.
He set up the group to more young people at his school to study science.
Zoe Yerolemou has been recognised for two specific programmes in particular.
The 17-year-old student at Kingsbury High School in Princes Avenue, Kingsbury, is the managing director of the Young Enterprise programme.
The programme has resulted in the efforts of the students being recognised throughout London.
Zoe also led her netball team to victory in the Brent senior tournament.
Jack Petchey CBE, 89, founded the foundation in 1999.
He said: “I am passionate about our awards scheme which enables young people to be recognised, valued and rewarded for their achievements and positive contributions to society.”
