A traditional May Fair was a fitting end to the Bank Holiday weekend for residents in Wemble
The event, now in its 37th year, was held at the Church of the Ascension in The Avenue, yesterday.
Dyanna Koradia, 11, was crowned May Queen, as a procession led her to the church where the event was held.
Young girls from the third Wembley Pack Brownies danced around the Maypole to weaving traditional patterns.
The Wembley Scottish Dance society came for the first time to perform a country dancing display and encouraged the crowds to join in.
Back for another year was the popular children’s animal farm.
Stalls offered a range of goods for sale including home-made jams and chutneys, cakes, cream teas, jewellery, pins and needles, plants, books and toys.
Geraldine Cooke, a member of the parish, said: There was a lovely atmosphere of fun and it was wonderful to welcome visitors from all sections of our very diverse community and for everyone to be able to mix and meet in a dare I say’good old fashioned get-together’.”
