Hundreds of mourners came out to pay their respects for a great-grandmother killed when crossing the road in Kensal Rise.
Kalma Parmar, of Halstow Road, also in Kensal Rise, died after being hit by a lorry on Banister Road on Thursday morning.
Yesterday, more than 400 people attended a special Hindu ceremony organised by her family where they paid their respects and prayed for the 82-year-old.
The devoted great-grandmother, grandmother, mother and wife was a full time carer for her husband who suffers from dementia.
Jeetendra Parmar, her son, said: “We came to celebrate her life and not to mourn her. She was so selfless and caring. So many people knew her. The hall was so full, people had to stand outside.”
Chetan Parmar, her younger son, added: “We are devastated. Mum was the glue for the family. She did so many things as was her nature, she was a very kind lady who cared for others.”
The lorry stopped at the scene and the driver was not arrested.
