Three neglected puppies which were left to die after being dumped on a road on Boxing Day are now looking for a new home.
The tiny pups, who have been named Sky, Pearl and Leo, ended up in the care of the Mayhew Animal Home in Kensal Green, after they were discovered in a box on the side of a street in Watford.
They were in such a neglected state that they were infested by lice and covered in flea eggs.
Leo had alopecia over most of his body and had a severely swollen stomach, which was most likely caused by worms.
Since arriving at the animal charity in Trenmar Gardens, they have been cleaned up, given flea treatments and plenty of baths which has allowed them to settle into a quiet kennel with plenty of food, water and warmth.
Leo was also given fluids and antibiotics along with his wormer.
Tania Mazzoni, animal welfare officer at The Mayhew, said: “Since arriving at our kennels Sky, Pearl and Leo perked up a lot, so we had our fingers crossed that they would make a full recovery.”
