A mother-of-two from Willesden who set up two community groups in Brent for parents and their young children has won a national award.
Sharmine Chowdhury-Tse scooped the National Childbirth Trust (NCT) Volunteer Diamond Jubilee Award for her voluntary services to the community.
Ms Chowdhury-Tse established Bumps and Babies group while she was pregnant in 2011 and she went on to set up Busy Rascals; a group for babies, toddlers and pre-school children, and their parents and carers the year after.
Both groups are based in the Queensbury Pub in Walm Lane, Willesden.
She said: “It is an honour to win the award in NCT’s Diamond Jubilee year as it’s a reminder of the thousands of new parents the charity has supported in the area over the past 60 years.”
The NCT Star Awards were set up to celebrate the charity’s 60th anniversary and diamond jubilee.
Nikki Squelch, NCT’s head of volunteering, added: “During her time volunteering at NCT North West London Branch, Sharmine has supported hundreds of new parents in her local community.”
Busy Rascals is open for all parents with their babies, toddlers and preschool children Monday to Saturday between 9.30am-11.30am at the Queensbury Pub.
