Laing O’Rourke have won a £700 million contract to regenerate Brent Cross shopping centre.

The international construction giants will now work with Hammerson and Standard Life Investments, the owners of Brent Cross, to finalise the design of the project with construction to begin next year.

The regeneration will double the size of the existing centre to two million square feet, to include 150 new shops, 50 restaurants, a cinema and a hotel.

Laing O’Rourke have completed similar projects and were responsible for Trinty Leeds and Westgate Oxford, both large shopping centres.

Liam Cummins, head of UK building for Laing O’Rourke, said: “We will collaboratively define, then deliver, success for our clients, partners and the wider community on Brent Cross, undoubtedly one of London’s most exciting and anticipated retail regenerations.”
