Caribbean families flooded into a Willesden church to pay their respects for fallen soldiers who sacrificed their lives in both World Wars.
A remembrance service was held in The New Testament Church in the High Road on Sunday to mark the centenary of the end of the First World War.
In the moving ceremony, now in its second year, Brother George Davis played the Last Post and the Reveille on the trumpet.
One woman laid a wreath for her husband.
Brother Earl Dinham, who organised the service, said: “In the West Caribbean community some people didn’t go to remembrance services – then they realised there were some soldiers in the congregation.
“This year we invited families whose husbands had passed away and they came.”
Brother Dinham, who served in the British Army for nine years, added: “We’ve never really marked remembrance here [before last year], but we will do it again next year and try to bring others in.”
