A leisure centre in Sudbury will undergo a £1.7million makeover following changes to its management.

Vale Farm Sports Centre in Watford Road, will also offer an array of new classes as part of an improvement package spearheaded by Everyone Active.

Last week the leisure operator and Brent Council announced the new partnership.

The centre had previously been run by Leisure Connections.

Vale Farm will aim to improve community health by offering more than 50 group exercise classes per week, a target group gym that will host instructed sessions for groups such as overweight children, rehabilitation patients, the disabled people and at-risk groups as well as ladies-only sessions.

The current gym will be made bigger and includes an upgrade on its equipment and the installation of a dance and indoor cycle studio.

Mark Leahy, area contract manger for Everyone Active, said: “We are delighted to be working with Brent Council in providing top class facilities and programming for the local community.

“We are committed to providing the best facilities and service possible and our proposed plans aim to make the centre inclusive and accessible for people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds and encourage participation in a range of sports and healthy activities.”

Cllr Roxanne Mashari, Brent Council’s lead member for environment and neighbourhoods, said:

“The council strives to offer good quality sports and leisure facilities to local people in order to encourage them to stay fit and healthy.”
