A busy thoroughfare will undergo a much needed facelift after receiving a £1.7million cash injection from local authorities and the mayor’s office.

Cricklewood Broadway has been given the funds from the Outer London Fund, complemented by £110,000 and £480,000 from Brent and Barnet Councils respectively, in a bid to breathe new life into the street.

Tired shop fronts are currently being revamped and public spaces revitalised, along with the planting of new trees and improved lighting – all to create a more welcoming and appealing stretch.

Cllr George Crane, Brent Council’s lead member for regeneration and major projects, said: “The regeneration of Cricklewood will transform what was a run-down area into more modern town centre with attractive public spaces, cleaner streets and brighter shop fronts.

“Our residents rightly expect an improved area and this regeneration is a top priority for Brent. I’d like to thank the Town Team in Cricklewood for the work they are doing in the area.”
