Located in the four-star Lancaster London Hotel in Lancaster Gate, Nipa Thai is only one of a handful of eateries to be given a “Thai Select” award from the Thai Government.
This prestigious recognition is only given to restaurants that prove the highest standards of quality and cuisine.
In addition Nipa Thai has two AA rosettes and manages to traditional Thai cuisine with an authentic décor that showcases original artefacts and furnishings.
Our starter Ruam Mitr featured a selection of the chef’s special Thai starters including spring rolls, chicken satay and fish cakes. All were served with a delicious range of accompany sauces and excitedly whetted our appetite for the main course.
I opted for Nor Mia Fa Rang Phad Hoy Shell which were mouth-watering scallops stir-fried and served with asparagus.
Scallops are notoriously difficult to cook to perfection so chef hats off to Nipa Thai as that one dish proved exactly why it as an award-winning restaurant.
My dining partner enjoyed his main Phas Kiew Warn Ta Lay a green curry with seafood that has been poached and flavoured with aubergine and basil.
Nipa Thai offers 12 different types of noodles and rice to go with your main course we enjoyed the Kao Kati; steamed rice with coconut milk and pandan leaves and Kao Phad Kai which was delicious fried rice with chicken.
The refreshing Ice Tim Ka Ti was a great choice for a dessert as the coconut flavour pleasantly cleaned my pallet.
We enjoyed our meal with delightful bottle of Chardonnay picked from their intensive wine list which includes champagne cocktails, beers and spirits.
It’s not hard to see why Nipa Thai has been accredited by the Thailand government.
Its cuisine puts Thailand solidly on the gastro map.
