The distinctive voice behind the 90s band the Lighthouse Family will be playing at the Jazz Café in Camden tonight.

Tunde Baiyewu will be showcasing songs from his new album ‘Diamond in a Rock’ a poignant collection coming from a place of openness and expression that he describes as ‘real’.

He said: “I look at life spiritually, by seeing the bigger picture in simple things.

“On this record, I’m finding my own truth and expressing it.”

He’d written a bunch of songs for a new Lighthouse Family record, but, while trying to put the pieces together in a major-label atmosphere, he was reminded of the creative speedbumps and artistic roadblocks that come with being in a band.

That’s when he decided his new material couldn’t be fully realised if he didn’t have control of the process.

Just like every song tells a story, every record has a story behind it, and Diamond in a Rock is no exception.

Tunde’s making the music that he wants to enjoy himself.

Tunde Baiyewu (supported by Luke Higgins) will be at the Jazz Café, Parkway, Camden, tonight from 7.30pm.
