A soul music event in Brent for over 30s will be celebrating its 10th anniversary on Saturday.
Essence of Soul was established by three friends who noticed there were no nights out in the area for fans of the music genre.
Vince Bva Viechweg, Brian Jay and Barry Stokes, who all grew up in Harlesden and attended the now closed Sladebrook Secondary School in Neasden, put on their first night in 2006 and since then it has been heavily attended by music lovers.
Previously held at venues in Paddington and Swiss Cottage, Essence of Soul now takes place at the Arista Bar in Church Lane, Kingsbury, around four times a year.
Its popularity with soul lovers outside of London has soared thanks to social media platforms such as Facebook.
On Saturday a party will be held to celebrate its anniversary and the birthdays of all three men.
Barry and Vince on April 11 and Brian’s four days later.
Mr Viechweg told the Times: “The reason we started back in 2006 is because we could find nowhere to go for our age group, there were no soul events in north west London.
“We are not the biggest and may not be the best, but the people that cone to Essence of Soul return because of the beautiful vibe we have.”
