Hayden Christensen and Samuel L Jackson leap back into the realm of big budget sci-fi with a ripping adventure that would be a winner if only the script was as convincing as the slick special effects package it's wrapped in.

Christensen is David, a cocky teenager who has the power to teleport or 'jump' to any location he chooses. His frequent 'jumps' draw the attention of Roland (Jackson), the ruthless leader of the Paladins, an ancient organisation devoted to terminating Jumpers.

Fortunately, David also crosses paths with Griffin (Jamie Bell), a fellow jumper, and the pair fast become allies in a blinding game of cat and mouse around the world.

As promising as the set-up is, the main problem is that the screenwriters thought it acceptable to fill the second half of the movie with scene after scene of people simply zapping from one famous landmark to another being pursued by villains with electric lassos.

The locations are impressive, and with direction by Doug Liman (The Bourne Identity) it hurtles along at a breathtaking pace, but ultimately it doesn't reach the heights it could have.
