This ingenious, endearing little comedy from Michael Gondry (Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind) isn't as funny or engaging as you might expect, but it's got enough heart to win you over.

It stars Jack Black as Jerry, a junkyard worker who becomes radioactive after trying to sabotage a power plant he suspects of causing him headaches. His illuminating infliction causes him to unintentionally destroy all the stock in his friend's (Mos Def) struggling video rental store.

As a result, the pair find themselves re-creating everything from the The Lion King to Ghostbusters to Driving Miss Daisy, to keep the store's one loyal customer and keep it from going under.

Yes, it's as silly as it sounds and Black and Def's characters are rather stupid, but the clever premise combined with Gondry's unpredictable guerilla film-making style make it a fun, visual treat that won't have you reaching for the fast-forward or stop button.
