Hooks ABC’s Sean Robinson will box in the last eight of the NACYP Championships next week after gaining a walkover in the London final.

Robinson had been due to face Ted Cheeseman of Fisher ABC on Sunday, but the bout had to be scrapped after Cheeseman was selected to represent England at the World Youth Championships.

That means that the Hooks fighter automatically receives a place in the last eight of the Class B under-63kg section, with the quarter-finals due to take place in Harlow on the weekend of November 10/11.

Meanwhile, Hooks’ Danny Barrett impressed in his first outing this season, winning a unanimous decision against home boxer Jason Helsby on the Finchley ABC show at the Boston Arms, Tufnell Park.

Despite a height disadvantage, 15-year-old Barrett soon found his range, landing some solid combinations as he dominated Helsby in all three rounds.

However, his Hooks clubmate Eddie McDonagh failed to build on a positive start as he lost a close majority decision to Finchley’s Tom Delaney on the same show.

The pair will meet again when the Park Royal club stage their own show on Thursday night at Salvatorian RC College, Harrow Weald.

Boxing starts at 7.30pm and tickets are available on the door at £10 (£5 for juniors).
