The latest news from the local football scene

Brent under-11 girls’ football team put in a superb performance at the Capital City Academy to notch a 2-0 victory against Queens Park Sharks.

The newly-formed Sharks fought hard, but were undone by solid defending and two excellent goals.

The first goal for Brent was a long-range power drive that flew into the top corner from Giussepina Carnevale.

The second was a brilliant team goal, which started with Brent playing out from the back through Keely Dibley-Dias and Sophie Kew.

The ball was delicately threaded to Carnevale, who sent an inch-perfect diagonal pass through the defence to Maya Rosenberg, who controlled the pass before smashing the ball past the brave Sharks keeper to score/

“The girls were terrific again today. The whole squad contributed. Both sides played really well,” said coach Chris Ampogo.

The Brent youngsters will hope to build on the win with another impressive display on their next outing.
