Stones hope to get their campaign off to the perfect start against Seagulls

Wealdstone kick off the new Vanarama National League South season on Saturday when they entertain Weston-super-Mare.

With pre-season now done and dusted for Stones, the competitive matches now begin with the Seagulls the visitors on the opening day of the season.

Bobby Wilkinson’s men head into their first league game of the season off the back of a confidence-boosting 3-0 victory at home to Cardiff City under-23s on Tuesday.

Bradley Bubb was among the scorers for the Grosvenor Vale outfit in the win over the young Bluebirds, a pleasing sign ahead of the new campaign.

Equally pleasing will have been the clean sheet for the defence, which in the second half contained Jake Sheppard, a summer signing from Reading.

Wealdstone will hope to get their season off to a flyer by getting the better of Weston on Saturday.

Stones are also in action on Tuesday night when they make the trip to Hungerford Town.
