St Panteleimon got off to a winning start to their league career in the English Football system.

The saints picked up a 2-1 victory against Fire United CFC in their Middlesex County League Division One clash after getting off to a slow start.

The first-half ended 0-0 against Feltham-based outfit, but they built from the back and with a faster start in the second half, they took the lead.

A free kick just outside the box saw Nick Salapatas fire in an unstoppable shot.

Fire United equalised with a rare attack, and the score did not reflect the balance of play.

The Saints pressed on and won corner after corner with one of Igli Sevaj’s crosses picking out Javonne Molloy who headed home the winner.

A club statement said: “The sign of a good team is to win when they are not playing well.

“The Saints can play much, much better than this. They were grateful for the victory.”
