St Panteleimon started their road to Wembley with an emphatic 3-1 win over Holmer Green FC to progress through the first qualifying round of the FA Vase.

They will now face Long Buckby in the second qualifying round of the cup competition on Saturday, September, 15.

Goals from Noyan Tajbakhsh, Ayub Albadri and new Brazilian signing Guillermo Monti sealed their progress and bagged the club £550 in prize money.

Tajbakhsh opened the scoring in the 16th minute as he netted from close range, Holmer Green soon levelled the score as they slotted home an in swinging corner in the 30th minute.

Nine minutes later Albadri restored their lead and made it 2-1 just before half-time.

Holmer Green came out stronger in the second half and put the Saints under pressure but in the 74th minute Monti broke through one-on-one with the keeper and made no mistake as he slotted it home to seal a 3-1 victory.
