QPR forward struck stoppage-time winner to tame Tigers

Match-winner Idrissa Sylla hailed the Queens Park Rangers supporters following Saturday’s thrilling 2-1 win at home to Hull City in the Sky Bet Championship.

The west Londoners had to come from behind to triumph, with the Tigers having taken a 35th-minute lead through Jarrod Bowen.

Substitute Matt Smith levelled the scores in the 74th minute when heading home a Luke Freeman cross.

Sylla also started on the bench, but made his mark after coming on, prodding home from close range in stoppage time following good work from Conor Washington.

Victory ensured QPR maintained their perfect home record in all competitions this season, and the striker says the result has led to a real buzz in the camp.

“There’s no better feeling than scoring a winning goal in the last minute,” the Guinea international told the club website.

“The noise around the stadium when the ball hit the back of the net was incredible!

“That’s three home wins in a row now at Loftus Road this season and we need to maintain that form in front of our own supporters.

“It was an amazing end to the game and one we want again and again and again.”

QPR dominated the ball at Loftus Road at the weekend, having enjoyed 64 per cent of possession against Hull, who were relegated from the Premier League last season.

The Rs also had 11 corners to City’s five, though the visitors did fire off more shots, both in total and on target.

But regardless of the statistics, Sylla believes the Loftus Road club were good value for all three points.

“I felt we got what we deserved for our overall performance, especially in the final stages when we threw everything at them to try and play our way back into the game,” added the 26-year-old.

“Even at 1-1, we kept looking for the winner and we got it, which was an amazing feeling.”

Sylla’s winner against Hull was the forward’s first goal of the season as he became the fifth different player to net for the Rs in their first four matches.

And now the 26-year-old has opened his account for the season, he will hope he can continue to add to his tally in the coming weeks.
