Queens Park Rangers saw their Championship match at Aston Villa postponed due to the heavy snowfall that has hit the UK.

Ian Holloway’s 16th-placed side were due to travel to Villa Park on the back of a 5-2 home defeat against Nottingham Forest last weekend, but their fixture became one of the many victims around the country on Saturday.

A statement on the club’s website said: “Aston Villa have confirmed today’s fixture against QPR has been postponed in the intereste of public safety due to the extreme weather conditions.

“Both Aston Villa and QPR express their thanks to supporters for their understanding and apologise for any inconvenience caused.”

The fixture will now take place on Tuesday March 13, with a 7.45pm kick-off.

Tickets already purchased are valid for the rearranged fixture or supporters can receive a refund, excludinng bookinng fee, by contacting the QPR box office from Monday.

Five other matches in the Championship have also been postponed, while only three survive in League One and two in League Two.

QPR will now hope to be in a position to host their match with Derby County at Loftus Road on Tuesday (7.45pm).
