Queens Park Rangers boss Steve McClaren has confirmed he will be making no further additions to his backroom staff.

Since signing a two-year deal to take over from Ian Holloway last month, the former England boss has brought in John Eustace and Matt Gardiner as assistant managers, with the pair arriving from National League North side Kidderminster Harriers.

Chris Ramsey, meanwhile, will continue to work with both the academy and the first-team squad.

And McClaren is confident every member of his backroom staff will contribute to a successful season for QPR.

“John knows my philosophy, and he transferred that very quickly to Kidderminster,” the 57-year-old told the club website.

“We will do the same here at QPR. I won’t need to show him or teach him what needs doing in that respect because he already knows.

“I also wanted someone to come in who could organise everything behind the scenes and take charge of the logistics of the team.

“Matt worked closely with John over the past two years and was highly recommended by him.

“After interviewing him it quickly became apparent that he was perfect for the role I was looking to fill.

“He played and managed at non-league level so he understands the game, but he has also worked for big businesses heading up teams, so he has all the attributes I need for what is a very critical role.

“It is an innovate approach to bring someone in from that background, but I am delighted because the logistics behind the running of a team can be a nightmare so it is important to have someone in who has that skill set and expertise, while also having a great understanding and experience within the game as well.”

McClaren and his coaches will no doubt be waiting anxiously to discover who they will face on the opening day of the new Championship season, with the fixtures set to be revealed at 9am on June 21.

The Rs will hope to open the new campaign at home again, like they did last term when they beat Reading 2-0 at Loftus Road.

The trips to former clubs Derby County, Nottingham Forest and Middlesbrough will also be sure to catch McClaren’s eyes when running through the fixture list for the upcoming season.
