Custodian to stay with Rs until 2021

Queens Park Rangers goalkeeper Joe Lumley has signed a new three-year deal with the Sky Bet Championship club.

The custodian’s previous deal expired next summer, but the 23-year-old will now remain at Loftus Road until 2021.

Lumley progressed through the west Londoners’ academy and has made four appearances for the Rs in all competitions.

The stopper has had loan spells with Accrington Stanley, Morecambe, Bristol Rovers and Blackpool, for whom he played 18 times last term.

But after penning a new deal with QPR, Lumley is excited about his future at Loftus Road.

“I’ve been here since I was 16, so I’m delighted to sign for another three years,” he told the club website.

“Since I joined I’ve always wanted to play for the first team so I’d do anything for that. Now that the new contract’s all sorted I can push ahead.

“My game’s improved massively since I’ve been here and I’ve learnt so much

“I’ve taken a lot from the goalkeeper coaches that I’ve had here and now with Gavin Ward I’m learning more every day, so hopefully it can only get better.”
