QPR boss Ian Holloway says youngster Ebere Eze has “unbelievable ability” and believes he can play a prominent role in his first-team squad in the future.

Holloway handed the 18-year-old his senior debut in the FA Cup tie against Blackburn at the weekend, but his afternoon was cut short after picking up an achilles injury.

Despite that Eze impressed during his 18-minute cameo in the 2-1 defeat, with Holloway full of praise for the former Millwall youngster.

He told the Times: “He’s got unbelievable ability, but the question is whether he can produce it out here.

“Millwall let him go so some people may find it strange I’m giving him a chance, but I believe in him.

“He’s got a lot to learn defensively but going forward he’s got all sorts of ability.

“He’s really impressed me in training, but now it’s my responsibility to really teach him the game.

“I was so pleased with the contribution he made [against Blackburn] he showed some nice touches and took some risks – that’s what football is all about.

“You can’t be a luxury at this level like Mr (Tjaronn) Chery, who takes set-plays and corners and free-kicks.

“At this level you’ve got to have everyone in it together and putting a shift in, and Eze has done that for me so far and long may that continue.

“Lots of people here will have to look at what we do and fight for their place in the team.

“He’ll recover from this minor set-back and get another chance to shine in this team, though.

“The attitude he has shown is exactly what I want to see from every one of the lads here.”
