Stones midfielder set to miss Saturday’s game at home to Whitehawk after international call-up

Wealdstone will be without captain Sam Cox for Saturday’s National League South clash at home to Whitehawk after the 26-year-old was called up to the Guyana squad.

The versatile Cox, who can play in defence and midfield, has been named as part of the Golden Jaguars’ squad for their upcoming friendly against Grenada.

Guyana’s match against the Spice Boys will take place at the Kirani James Stadium in St George’s on October 7.

It will be Guyana’s first international match since a 4-2 defeat to Jamaica in the Caribbean Cup last October.

Cox, who came through the ranks as a youngster at Tottenham Hotspur, made his debut for Guyana in 2015.

Stones will hope his absence is not felt too hard this weekend as they look to return to winning ways in the league following last weekend’s shock defeat at Burgess Hill Town in the FA Cup third qualifying round.
