Stones ended campaign with 1-0 victory at Hawks on Saturday

Bobby Wilkinson dedicated Wealdstone’s win at Whitehawk in the National League South to everyone associated with the club after the season came to a close.

A Ricky Wellard goal at the Enclosed Ground was enough to see Stones end the campaign on a high.

It was a pleasing note for the Grosvenor Vale outfit to end the term on, and Wilkinson was pleased to thank everyone for their support this season with one final win.

But the Wealdstone boss admits it was a little closer than he would have liked, commenting: “I’m really pleased for Ricky, I just wish we got a second and a third!

“It was a little nerve-racking because you’re worried about a slip-up or something similar.

“We came away, showed what we’re all about and came away with three points.

“I’m really pleased for all the travelling fans because the numbers were brilliant at Whitehawk.

“I’m pleased for the chairman, vice-chairman and all the board because they deserved a win to finish off before the summer.

“We’ll go away and start preparing for another tough season, but hopefully it’s a real good season.”
