The 22-year-old has agreed a contract with the National League club until the summer after impressing in the Bostik Premier this season

Leyton Orient have completed the signing of Wingate & Finchley left-back Nathan Mavila on a deal until June 30.

The West Ham United academy graduate has impressed in the Bostik Premier since signing for the Blues last summer.

Mavila’s performances at left-back, having previously played higher up the pitch, have seen O’s tie him down to a short-term contract.

Wingate confirmed the defender had left to sign for a National League club via their Twitter account on Friday.

A statement read: “We are proud to have developed a player that has garnered huge interest from numerous clubs and who will move up two divisions. Good luck for the future Nathan.”

Mavila will return to the professional set-up again after some time away from the pro game in recent years.

The 22-year-old, who was brought up in Brixton, spent time with League Two outfit Wycombe Wanderers in his early teenage years.

After leaving the Chairboys at the age of 16, he went on trial with Chelsea before he was snapped up by West Ham.

Mavila signed his first professional contract in April 2014 and just over a year later he was part of the Hammers matchday squad for the first time.

He was an unused substitute as West Ham bowed out of the Europa League in the third qualifying round following a 2-1 defeat at Astra Giurgiu which saw them exit the competition 4-3 on aggregate.

But at the end of the 2015/16 campaign, he was released by the Premier League club and after training with Perugia and Charlton Athletic, he signed for National League side Maidstone United at the beginning of the new season.

The left-sided ace failed to establish himself as a regular with the Stones though and, via short spells with Soham Town Rangers and Cambridge City, dropped down a division to the National League South in January 2017 to sign for Wealdstone.

Come the conclusion of the 2016/17 season, the Londoner moved on again and this time he linked up with Wingate and it proved to be a great decision.

Mavila went on to make 43 appearances in all competitions for the Maurice Rebak Stadium club and scored twice under the stewardship of ex-West Ham defender Keith Rowland.

After leaving Wingate, he said: “It’s been a pleasure. You gave me a platform when nobody wanted to. You will always be in my heart.”

Having returned to the pro game with Orient after two-and-a-half years away, Mavila will aim to make the most of this second chance.
