Harry Redknapp is the firm favourite to take over from Fabio Capello

The debate regarding the new England manager has already begun with Harry Redknapp the firm favourite among former players and managers.
Former England hero Paul Gascoigne believes that the Tottenham manager is the obvious choice to take over.
“The fans’ favourite is Harry. He is a day to day manager. He’s a great man and a great manager,” Gascoigne said.
“Harry is the obvious choice but Tottenham would not want to lose him.
“He’s a great bloke and it’s great news for him. He is a players man and he has proven that with the clubs he has been to.
“I’d give Terry Venables a shot again if Spurs were not willing to let him go.
“Harry is a similar type of bloke. If he was given the job he’d do a fantastic job.
“They’ve got to look at good managers.
“There has got to be team spirit. If a player gets picked they try to change him. “Keep them enjoying their football. If he plays there for his club, play him there for his country.”
Former QPR manager Neil Warnock believes that the FA should go cap in hand to Spurs’ owner Daniel Levy.
“I don’t see any other man as a candidate,” Warnock told Sky Sports News.
“We’ve got to go cap in hand to Daniel Levy. Tottenham will be in the top four and it could be a great double
“I’m sure I could but we’re all biased aren’t we.”
I think the FA would go for somebody within the camp. They’ve got to put all their eggs in one basket for Harry.
I spoke to him over the years and it’s the pinnacle of his career.
Some fans had suggested that Warnock himself took over but he insisted that Redknapp was the man for the job.
“I’m sure I could but we’re all biased aren’t we,” Warnock added.
“Every Englishmen’s ambition is to manage the country and I’m no different but Harry is the one that everybody wants and we’ve got to go for him.
Gary Neville believes that Redknapp is the only option to take charge of England.
“We would move forward with an English manager,” Neville told Sky Sports News.
“I don’t think the foreign option has worked.
“I do believe there is a young group of people with the ability.”
“Harry Redknapp is the outstanding candidate without a shadow of a doubt.
“He is the only option. He’s under employment at Tottenham which is the difficult thing.
“They might negotiate a part-time release for the summer.
“I’m sure that he’s the outstanding candidate.”
Former Spurs favourite Alan Mullery does not want Redknapp to be the next manager for selfish reasons.
“I don’t want him (Redknapp) to be the England manager,” he said.
“I don’t think it should be an Englishman. With the talent we have. Stuart Pearce has been working with Fabio.
“Roy Hodgson would be a shout as well. After that I have to start guessing for Englishmen.
“Would Jose Mourinho, Pep Guardiola like it?”
Hendon could soon be on the move again after signalling that they intend to leave Vale Farm at the end of next season.
