The former defender, who captained his country on several occasions and played in the 1998 World Cup in France, will take to the stage at The Folly, 41 Gracechurch Street, London, EC3V 0BT on Monday May 21.

The free Worldcupwarmup.eventbrite.co.uk event kicks off at 6.30pm and will be hosted by Sky Sports’ Dickie Davis.

Adams will be joined by a second star name on the evening as the charity continues its work in football and beyond to beat a disease killing one man every 45 minutes in the UK.

There will be light bites and a cash bar at the event, which runs until 10pm, with League Managers’ Association (LMA) member Adams keen to get involved in raising the profile of Prostate Cancer UK.

He said: “I’ve faced some fearsome opponents during my career but hearing the statistic that prostate cancer kills one man in 45 minutes really puts into perspective the danger of the disease.

“You can’t avoid the excellent work being done by Prostate Cancer UK and I know their thriving partnership with the LMA plays a big part in raising awareness among my contemporaries.

“I also know Arsenal are among the clubs involved in the upcoming Football March to Wembley alongside fans across London, but before that there’s the small matter of the World Cup.

“It was an honour to represent my country more than 50 times and I’m delighted to be at the Prostate Cancer UK World Cup Q&A to share some of my memories.

“It’s shaping up to be a great night and I look forward to walking down memory lane and raising awareness of this hugely important cause.”

Fans are invited to come and enjoy the Q&A and find out more about Prostate Cancer UK’s plans and football themed events they can get involved with this summer. Visit Worldcupwarmup.eventbrite.co.uk.
