Twelve teams took part in competition to celebrate England’s 1966 World Cup win

Princess Frederica Primary School won the inaugural Brent Schools’ FA Under-10 World Cup competition in dramatic fashion, scoring a late winner against Islamia Primary.

The competition, which was organised by the Brent Schools’ FA and Hendon coach Joe Pascoe, was part-funded by the English Schools’ FA as part of the celebration of England’s World Cup triumph in 1966.

The competition, which saw 12 teams enter, took place at Hendon’s Silver Jubilee Park and began with an initial group stage.

Princess Frederica progressed from that group stage, before beating Chalk Hill 3-0 in the semi-finals.

Having already drawn with Islamia in the group stage, Eabha Kennedy fired Princess Frederica ahead in the final.

After being pegged back by Islamia, Molly O’Connor then scored a late winner for Princess Frederica to land them the win in the World Cup.

Princess Frederica: Kennedy, Stone, O’Connor, Ampofo, Monk, Palmer, K Fox, M Fox, Nugent, MacArthur, Kado-Fakahau.
