Hendon let a two-goal lead slip as they were denied victory by a late Marketmen goal at Bloomfields on Saturday.

Snow fell during the first half in Suffolk, but did not settle on a wet pitch, and the home side opened the scoring on 12 minutes when Jeremiah Kamanzi fired a loose ball past Corey Addai.

Gary McCann’s Greens were back on level terms just past the half-hour mark, though, as Josh Walker netted and they struck twice in three minutes early in the second half to take control.

Ashley Nathaniel-George put the visitors ahead on 50 minutes, then curled a fine effort past Danny Gay soon after to make it 3-1.

But Adam Mills hit back for the hosts on the hour to give them hope and struck again just two minutes from time to ensure honours finished even and Hendon returned back to north London with one point instead of three.

Hendon remain in a play-off place on goal difference, with Margate and Leiston also on 48 points, and are back on the road on Tuesday when they make the long trip to the coast to take on lowly Lowestoft Town.

Hendon: Addai, Eggleton, Gordon, Diedhiou (Tingey 46), Bray, Lee, Nathaniel-George, Maclaren, Walker (Muir 72), White, Joseph. Unused subs: Murphy, Campbell-Young, Cole.

Attendance: 239.
