Greens dropped points in two home games in league over the past week

Hendon will want to avoid a
fifth game without a win in
the Bostik Premier on Saturday when they visit struggling Burgess Hill Town on Saturday.

The Greens are yet to triumph in the league in 2018, a run of four matches so far and that is a streak they will want to stop soon.

On Tuesday, Gary McCann’s men suffered another blow in their push for the play-offs with a 4-1 loss at home to Leatherhead.

The Silver Jubilee Park outfit fell behind in just the second minute when Ruel Sotiriou put the Tanners ahead.

Leatherhead doubled their
lead four minutes before the break, with Daniel Gallagher on target.

Tom Derry and Jack Midson then struck in the 51st and 52nd minutes respectively for the Tanners to put the game beyond Hendon’s reach.

Ashley Nathaniel-George pulled a goal back for the Greens, but it proved little more than scant consolation.

The defeat followed a thrilling 3-3 draw at home to Folkestone Invicta for McCann’s men last Saturday as they battled back from three goals down to take a point.

Invicta led by one at the break after Ian Draycott netted, before Callum Davies hit a brace after the interval — his second coming with 19 minutes remaining in the match.

Hendon were given hope of a comeback two minutes later when Joe White, on loan from National League outfit Dagenham & Redbridge, scored.

Zak Joseph then cut the gap to one when finding the net in the 76th minute to set up a thrilling finale.

And the comeback was complete in stoppage time when Casey MacLaren scored the equaliser for the Greens.

Both the draw with Folkestone and the loss to Leatherhead mean Hendon went the whole of January without a league win.

That is something the Greens will look to rectify on Saturday when they begin February away to Burgess Hill.

The omens do not look good for McCann’s men, though, having played out a 2-2 draw with the Hillians when they met at Silver Jubilee Park earler in the season, despite goals from Dave Diedhiou and Joseph.

A similar result this time around would see Hendon possibly drop further back from the play-off places, with the Greens three points adrift ahead of the weekend.
