Key men Adam Voges, Sam Robson and Paul Sterling are all available to feature in Monday’s four-day contest

Middlesex have received a triple injury boost ahead of their County Championship Division One contest at Surrey, which starts on Monday.

Physio Peter Waxman confirmed on Tuesday that Australian international Adam Voges, Sam Robson and Paul Sterling are all available for selection ahead of the Kia Oval clash.

Voges had been carrying a calf injury, while Robson looks set to recover from a hamstring problem picked up against Warwickshire at the start of the month and a period of recuperation has helped Sterling get over his calf issue.

On the injuries, Waxman spoke to the official club website, he said: “Adam has now fully recovered from the calf injury he was carrying and has been declared fit for Middlesex’s clash against Surrey.

“Paul is making great progress after a period of recuperation, and whilst not passed fit for four day cricket to this point, he has been fit enough for Twenty20 cricket, and is expected to make a full recovery for him to be available for Middlesex’s trip to the Oval.”

Captain James Franklin will still have to do without Nick Gubbins though, who remains absent with a hamstring injury picked up against Warwickshire in the last four-day match at Lord’s, but is expected to return early next month.

Ryan Higgins and James Fuller are also ruled out, with the latter’s season coming to an unfortunate end with his right elbow now requiring further surgery, while Higgins is expected to make a return from a right shoulder injury towards the end of September.

“Whilst James will play no further part this year, the long term prognosis is good for a full recovery to fitness post surgery,” added Waxman.

“Ryan sustained a right shoulder injury whilst fielding on Friday against Glamorgan in Cardiff. He has since undergone x-rays and scans which have revealed an injury to the Acromioclavicular joint.

“The injury is not as serious as it could have been and we are hopeful that Ryan will be fit and available to return to action in three weeks time after a period of recuperation.”

Middlesex head into Monday’s match in sixth spot in the Championship, while hosts Surrey are fourth, but Franklin’s men will be looking to bounce back after more T20 Blast disappointments. A seven-wicket defeat at Glamorgan last Friday ended their hopes of reaching the last eight.
