Middlesex announce New Zealand international as second overseas signing

Middlesex have added to their squad for the upcoming NatWest T20 blast with the signing of New Zealand paceman Tim Southee as their second overseas signing.

The 28-year-old will link up with fellow Kiwi Brendon McCullum for the summer event, with Middlesex being coached by Daniel Vettori in this year’s competition.

Southee has good pedigree in the shortest format of the game, playing for his national team at the last four World T20s as well as turning out for the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League.

The right-arm seamer will link up with Middlesex in early July, and Southee says he is looking forward to the challenge.

“I’m excited to be joining Middlesex this year for the NatWest T20 blast and helping the club throughout the T20 competition,” he told the club website.

“When the opportunity came up to play for Middlesex it wasn’t a tough decision to make and I’m looking forward to calling Lords home while I’m there.”
