2008 Olympic champion will hope to regain world belt next month after losing it to American in December

Former Dale Youth amateur James DeGale has secured a rematch with IBF world super middleweight champion Caleb Truax in Las Vegas next month.

The 32-year-old lost his world title to the American after suffering a points defeat at the Copper Box in Stratford in December.

However, 2008 Olympic champion DeGale has a chance to quickly regain that title, with the rivals set to meet on April 7 at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.

The defeat to Truax was just the second of DeGale’s career and came in his first fight in the UK since November 2014.

“I am not going to make excuses for my poor performance, actions speak louder than words,” the 32-year-old said.

“I am excited to be boxing in Vegas and on Showtime again. The real JD will be back on fight night!”

When winning the IBF crown in 2015, DeGale became the first British boxer to win an Olympic gold medal and a world title.
