Fight to take place at Copper Box on December 9

Former Dale Youth boxer James DeGale will defend his IBF world super middleweight title against Caleb Truax on December 9.

It was announced in October that DeGale would defend his title at the Copper Box next month, though at the time no opponent had been confirmed.

The 31-year-old former Olympic champion now knows he will face American Truax, who has 28 wins, three losses and two draws from his 33 fights to date.

DeGale is not the only boxer with links to the borough boxing for a world title next month, with Gary Corcoran challenging WBO welterweight holder Jeff Horn on December 13.

n IQ prospect Alex Ananivi suffered a close defeat to Tom Bennett of Repton BC in the final of the National Association of Boys & Girls Clubs London Class D 69kg category.

Earlier, Ananivi had picked up a fine win over Dagenham ABC hope Freddie Hudson in the semi-finals.
