The latest news from the local boxing scene

James DeGale will defend his IBF world super middleweight title on a Frank Warren promotion at the Copper Box on December 9.

DeGale won a gold medal at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing while a member of Dale Youth ABC.

The 31-year-old last competed in January when his unification bout with Badou Jack, then the WBC world title holder, ended in a majority draw.

DeGale’s opponent is still to be confirmed, but the boxer, who has just one defeat in a 25-fight career, tops a packed bill.

Welshman Lee Selby is also booked to defend a world title as he puts his IBF world featherweight belt on the line against an opponent to be confirmed.

Exciting 20-year-old heavyweight Daniel Dubois and light heavyweight Anthony Yarde are also scheduled for action.

The bill will be shown live on BT Sport and Box Nation, with those watching home hoping to celebrate a DeGale win as the former Dale Youth man bids to defend his world title.
