There were defeats for two IQ Neasden boxers in the semi-finals of the London Elite Championships last week.

Middleweight Robbie Chapman suffered a narrow points loss against Jermaine Williams, while Vasile Nedelcu was beaten by Elliot Whale.

In his bout with Williams, Chapman gave as good as he got, with both competitors throwing plenty of punches across the three rounds.

It wasn’t to be for Chapman, though, who will now turn pro after signing with Goodwin Promotions and will make his debut at York Hall in May.

For Nedelcu, his defeat came at the hands of the defending champion, with Nemesis rival Whale one of the top amateurs in the light welterweight division.

Nedelcu was knocked down twice in the first round, before the referee brought the contest to an end in the second round.

The finals take place on Thursday at the Royal National Hotel in Russell Square at 7.30pm.
