Queen’s Park Harriers teenager Andrew Amoah slashed his personal best twice in two days in the South of England Indoor Championships at Lee Valley.

Amoah, competing in his first indoor race, clocked a time of 23.84 seconds as he finished third in the heats of the under-17 boys’ 200m – and lowered it by a further 0.02 seconds in the semi-finals, where he took sixth place.
The QPH youngster also ran a personal best of 7.47 in the 60m heats and then 7.49 in the semi-finals, as well as recording a leap of 5.30m in the long jump.
And another of QPH’s rising stars, Jermaine Aryeetey, also did the club proud at Lee Valley as he recorded a time of 7.24 on his indoor debut to finish third in the under-20 men’s 60m heats.
Aryeetey then improved on that performance with a run of 7.22 in the semi-finals, where he took fifth place, while QPH’s Mohamed Hashi clocked 3:38 in the senior 1,500m.
“Andrew has exceeded all expectation in his performance,” said QPH coach DW Benjamin. “He continues to show real dedication and maturity and an exceptional keenness to achieve even higher standards
“These achievements, together with the recent successes of Brett English in cross-country, show that Queens Park Harriers are finally emerging as a real force to be reckoned with.”
Hendon could soon be on the move again after signalling that they intend to leave Vale Farm at the end of next season.
