FORTUNES in sport can change very quickly - but Hooks ABC teenager Alfie Stanley went from victorious to vanquished in just minutes last weekend.

The 15-year-old was initially declared the winner by majority decision after a close contest with Ruislip ABC's A Cawley at the Heathrow Park Hotel, despite being warned on two occasions for holding.

When he returned to the dressing-room, though, Stanley - who kept his opponent on the back foot in the opening round before tiring late on - discovered that Cawley had been declared the winner.

Steve Newland, who trains Stanley at the Park Royal club, said: "I've never had that happen before. We weren't told anything officially - the fight could have gone either way, that's how I'm looking at it."

There was no confusion about the result of Hooks' Jake Fallon's clash with M Miah (Northolt) on the same show - the latter landing the cleaner punches to take a majority decision.
