Remembrance events are taking place in Brent for people wishing to mark their respects for all those who have died or been injured in the line of duty.

The mayor of Brent Cllr Bhagwanji Chohan is taking part in two remembrance service events this Sunday.

Both services are held every year to remember those in the borough and beyond who gave their lives in the two world wars and other conflicts.

At 10.45 the Royal British Legion Remembrance Service is taking place at St John the Evangellist Church in Crawford Avenue, Wembley.

In the afternoon, from 1.50pm, there is the Borough Civic Remembrance Service and Parade in Barham Park, Sudbury.

Army, Navy and Royal Air Force cadets will among those joining the mayor at the memorial site in Queen Elizabeth Gardens.

Brent Council launched its annual Poppy Appeal on November 2 which aims to raise money to help protect the welfare, interest and memory of those who are serving, or who have served, in the Armed Forces.

Cllr Chohan, said: “The appeal is our chance to remember and pay tribute to all those who have sacrificed so much for the nation over the years, and those that continue to do so now.

“I urge residents, visitors, and businesses to donate as much as possible to this vital cause and look forward to seeing poppies being worn across Brent.”
