A police officer based in Brent has been sacked for racially abusing and swearing at a bouncer during a night out at a bar.

PC Emilio Sabatino admitted swearing at the bouncer and raising his middle finger at him but had denied hurling racist abuse at him or misusing his warrant card while he was off duty.

Today at a misconduct hearing the allegations against him were found to be proven.

A fourth claim that he urinated on the toilet floor inside the venue was not proven.

Sabatino was dismissed for breaching the standards of professional behaviour in relation to, honesty & integrity, authority Respect & courtesy, equality & diversity and discreditable conduct.

Chief Superintendant Matt Gardner, directorate of professional standards and former borough commander for Brent Police, said: “Mr Sabatino has let himself and his colleagues down as a result of off duty behaviour. He has been found to use racist and abusive behaviour to a member of the public who was simply doing his job, a scenario similar to what police officers do 24/7 in their role to protect Londoners.

“We do not want officers with these behaviours in the Metropolitan police and he has been rightly dismissed with immediate effect.”
