An army officer who has clocked up 34 years of voluntary work with the cadets picked up his OBE at Buckingham Palace this week.

Colonel Anthony Ian Denison, the former commandant of the Middlesex and North West London Army Cadets, was named in the New Years Honours List for his services to children and young people

On Valentines’ Day, the married father, who is also a senior manager with the UK Border Agency at Heathrow Airport, was invested by Prince Charles as his proud wife Alison looked on.

He said: “It’s a great personal honour to be recognised in this way, but my achievements make only a small contribution to the team that makes the Army Cadet Force such an excellent organisation for young people.”

Colonel Denison, who stepped down from his role on New Year’s Eve, was in charge of Cadets across north west London including branches in Kingsbury, Willesden, Harlesden and Wembley.

Cadets are aged 12-18 and Volunteer Leaders aged 19 -55.
