Sudbury Town Residents Association plan to rejuvenate their streets

A neighbourhood forum from Wembley has become the first area in Brent to be given special funding to improve their area.

Sudbury Town Residents Association has been awarded funding to prepare a Neighbourhood Plan.

Neighbourhood planning gives communities the power to agree a neighbourhood development plan giving communities the chance to have a say in what gets built and how the area looks.

Together, the community can now shape what development should happen and where, what infrastructure, shops, services people would like to see provided, and what improvements are needed.

Renu Kaul, deputy chair of STRA, said: “This represents an excellent opportunity for the community to come together and shape the future for Sudbury Town. We want the plan to reflect the views of everybody in the community.”

The first of several briefings followed by a walkabout was on Saturday. The next will be on Saturday, April 13.

Neighbourhood planning was introduced through the Localism Act 2011 andlegislation came into effect in April 2012.
