A centre supporting people with learning disabilities and autism has been rated “outstanding” by inspectors.

The Kingswood Centre received the rating after an inspection by health watchdog the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

As part of the body’s programme of checks on mental health provision, the CQC focused on the quality of wards at the Honeypot Lane centre.

After thanking staff, chief executive of the Central and North West London NHS Trust Claire Murdoch said: “This is welcome news for an impressive team.”

She added: “The centre makes a huge difference to a person and their family.”

Treatment at the centre – which has more than 100 staff – lasts from three to six months and focuses on supporting people’s independence.

Learning disability service director Jo Carroll said: “Thanks to every staff member for doing such brilliant jobs; you’re the reason the centre is outstanding.”

In its last inspection two years ago the centre’s wards were rated as “good” overall.
