Five bright murals are in the process of brightening up Wembley Central thanks to a grant given to a community library.

The Friends of Barham Library (FOBL) recently received a financial boost from Wembley Futures and have commissioned one of their “artists in residence” to brighten up the area.

Alessandra Grasso, who lives in Stapenhill Road, Sudbury, is in the process of painting the murals on hoardings outside the former Chesterfield House building on the corner of Wembley High Road and Park Lane.

The 26-year-old, who is studying an Art Illustrator course at Middlesex University, said: “Nature is really important for the wellbeing of people and my murals are bringing flowers and colour into their lives.”

Paul Lorber, from Friends of Barham Library, said: “With all the building work and disruption going on we thought that Wembley Central needed brightening up.

The reaction of the passing public to the colourful murals has been very positive and we are pleased to be making a contribution to making Wembley Central more colourful.”

FOBL worked in partnership with the Hub Group, who own the site, and Daniels Estate Agents, who provide support facilities to enable the work to progress.
