Fire crews were called to a blaze which tore through a derelict building in Alperton.

More than 30 people alerted fire crews to a blaze in at Minavil House in Rosemont Road at 5.15pm on Sunday afternoon.

Two people left the scene before the brigade arrived with 72 firefighters and ten fire engines with aerial ladder platforms.

Around a third of the first floor was alight. The blaze was very visible and produced a lot of smoke, London Fire Brigade said.

Minavil House, owned by Lidl, is a part warehouse/ part two storey office building currently sitting empty.

Developer R55 plans to demolish the building and build a 26 storey tower in its place, which has not yet received planning approval.

Fire crews from Wembley, Acton, Ealing and Park Royal had the fire under control by 6.45pm.

The cause of the fire is not known at this stage.
