A public meeting is set to be held tonight after asbestos was found buried in Paddington Old Cemetery last year.

The Ham&High reported asbestos had been found in a mound at the cemetery, on Willesden Lane, which was planned to be used for new plots.

For decades, the material was commonly used to insulate houses and buildings. It has been linked to causing cancer, and other lung diseases.

The material has since been removed, but questions remain over how it got there in the first place.

A spokesperson for Brent Council has said the cemetery is safe for people to visit, and use, without any precautions.

The meeting is set to take place tonight at 7pm, at Kilburn Housing Co-operative, Kilburn Square, Victoria Road.
