Claremont High School Academy in Kenton wins second outstanding status from Ofsted

A secondary school in Kenton has been awarded an Outstanding status from education watchdogs for the second time.

Claremont High School Academy, in Claremont Avenue, managed to hold on to the highest accolade given by Ofsted when it was inspected last month, having first won it in 2010. The school was rated Outstanding in all categories which include leadership and management, behaviour and safety of pupils, quality of teaching, achievement of pupils and the Sixth Form provision.

In its report Ofsted said: “Claremont is an Outstanding school which has maintained consistently impressive levels of achievement over time.”

It praised the staff, the pupils and the teaching, most notably in English and Maths, remarking on the “excellent leadership that has ensured all groups of students achieve to a similarly high standard.”

Terry Molloy, Claremont’s headmaster, said: “We are absolutely delighted that the Ofsted inspection team has recognized the amazing work that is carried out at our school.”

He added: “We are proud to be the first secondary school in Brent to achieve an Ofsted Outstanding grading under the new framework in all categories, a coveted designation that not only reflects the commitment and hard work of all key stakeholders, but also reaffirms Claremont’s position as a lead school on a local and national scale.”
